About Koper

Boat Landing Area:

Boat landing area for Europa Cup will be situated in Marina Koper, home of the host club – JK Jadro Koper, just a few minutes away from the center of Koper. The boats will be parked in two areas. One will be in Marina Koper and the other in the local beach beside marina Koper. Those two areas are interconnected and on walking distance. Both are equipped with slipways.

Local Facilities:

The race office and facilities for sailors will be set up inside the Marina of Koper. There will be a pressroom and free Wi-Fi for sailors, coaches and press. In the marina are berths for the rubber boats. Koper city-centre is 5 min walk from the Marina, providing shops, bars and restaurants for competitors and coaches. Online notice board with a WhatsApp for realtime notifications group will be available for coaches and other attendees.

Average Wind & Weather Conditions:

March is a month of temperatures ranging from 10 to 20°C depending on weather conditions. The prevailing wind is coming from the NW and is a consequence of local thermal conditions. The s.c "maestral" blows with average speeds ranging from 6 to 15 knots. Usually the sea breeze starts at 11am and drops after 3pm on a daily basis. It’s a very constant wind without large shifts or guests.

The other typical wind blown from NE, the s.c. "burja". It’s a very cold wind with moderate power ranging from 15 knots up to 25 knots. Blowing off shore has a very gusty and shifty behaviour.

The third possible wind blows from SE. It can be very powerful depending how far away from the shore the racing area is located. This wind is also gusty but has a very predictable strength. Usually is accompanied with mild weather conditions.
