About Thessaloniki

 
Local Facilities:
Medical support their will be a boat mechanic throughout the races. Security 24h security will be in place throughout the championship. The Port Authority will monitor the area at the same time. Medical assistance There will be an organized clinic, a doctor and an ambulance throughout the Europa cup, as well as a rescue team for any problem that arises. Food options There are 3 restaurants will the capacity of 100+people each as well as a café to meet the needs of athletes and attendants. PARKING SPACE: There is a large private area for a car parking. The club can provide space for RVS as well. BOAT PARKING SPACE: NAOKTH has the ability to host at least 350 ILCA 6 type boats, there is a large space for hosting trailers, all numbered and in a specific space for each club.
The four changing rooms (two men's, two women's) include a total of 15 showers. 10 WC are available. During the championships 6 additional chemical WC were in use.
 
Boat Landing are and Facilities:
The Nautical Club in facilities as large as 22,000 square meters that include meeting rooms, offices, a gym, a rowing room, changing rooms, rooms for ceremonies and receptions, restaurants, cafes, private parking, wi-fi and 24-hour security.
 
Average Wind & Weather Conditions:
The following is an analysis of weather in Thessaloniki during July. The data source is from weather stations from the Hellenic National Meterological Service. The prevailing winds are (in order of friequency ) NW, SW, SW and SE (primarily in the afternoon). SW and NW wind force increases significantly throughout the afternoon. The phenomenon is particularly strong and takes place on a regular daily basis. Accordingly July is the most suitable for sailing competitions. The mean temperature is 280 C, ranging from 220 C-350 C.

 

Local tourist information

Drinking coffe is by far one of the greatest pleasures for the Greeks. Our national drink propably costs more than it should, but lasts longer than anywhere else. Shopping is one thing you can enjoy during your stay. The city offers plenty of options so that no taste or wallet are left unsatisfied. There are a lot a destinations near Thessaloniki worth visiting at the sandy beaches of Halkidiki, the historical site and museum of Vergina, the spiritual and monastic center of the Orthodox World, Mount Athos, and for outdoor enthusiasts Mount Olympus offers a variety of activities to engage in.

 

Accommodation

 
There is ample hotel and tourism infrastructure in place to serve athletes, committees and spectators. Most hotels are located in the center of the city and near the waterfront. The distances to the Nautical Club of Thessaloniki are on an average of 15 to 35 minutes.
NACKTH cooperates with travel agencies which handle all accommodations and travel matters. On occasion of previous Championships, hotels offered special prices to participants:
Category A & B: 60-75 Euro (single room), 70-95 Euro (double room), 85-140 Euro (triple room).
Category De Lux: 115 Euro (single room), 140 Euro (double room).
A nearby seaside suburb of Thessaloniki located about 20 km outside of the city has very nice and economical accommodations in small hotels and studio apartments which the Nautical and Sports Club of Kalamaria Thessaloniki is using during populous events.
Prices run about 60 Euro for double and about 80 Euro for triple room (breakfast included).
 

Transport

Macedonia airport is located 8km from the club and is easily accessible by car, bus or taxi. The railway station is about 30 minutes distance from the club and is located in central Thessaloniki. Ferryboats from Europe and elsewhere call at Patra (466 km from Thessaloniki), Piraeus (517 Km from Thessaloniki) and Igoumenitsa (323 km from Thessaloniki).
