Boat Landing Area and Facilities:
The Royal Malta Yacht Club features a large slipway capable of accommodating the simultaneous launch and recovery of two boats. To ensure a smooth and efficient process, we will also have volunteers stationed in the water to assist sailors during both launching and recovery.
Local Facilities:
The Royal Malta Yacht Club is a modern, well-equipped facility offering all the amenities you would expect from a Royal Club. These include changing rooms, showers, toilets, a bar and restaurant, as well as spacious outdoor terraces and a rooftop events area. The club underwent a major refurbishment in 2021, significantly enhancing its dining and social spaces.
For equipment needs, the local ILCA dealer is Gauci Borda & Co Ltd (www.gauciborda.com). They maintain a good selection of ILCA parts, though for any specialised or less common items, we recommend emailing them in advance to ensure availability.
Average Wind & Weather Conditions:

The average sea temperatures at its annual low of 16ºC, while humidity's low and ranges from around 60% to the mid 90s. Average rainfall drops to 63mm across 12 rainy days. Malta’s capital, Valletta, is a UNESCO World Heritage Site renowned for its rich history, striking Baroque architecture, and cultural significance. The city is home to numerous museums, palaces, and grand churches, and offers one of Europe’s most breathtaking views overlooking the Grand Harbour. A highlight is St. John’s Co-Cathedral, with its lavish interior and the famous Caravaggio masterpiece, The Beheading of Saint John the Baptist. Valletta offers a unique blend of historical charm and vibrant city life, making it a must-visit during your stay.
Recommend staying in the neighbourhoods of Ta’ Xbiex, Msida, Gzira, or Sliema, as they are all conveniently located near our the RMYC. For hotels, focus on the Gzira/Sliema area, which is one of Malta’s main tourist districts and offers a wide range of restaurants, shopping, and seaside attractions. The hotels we typically work with include the Grands Suites Hotel, Azur Hotel, Alavits Hotel (new), Sliema Hotel, and the Hotel Verdi (new), all situated in Gzira or Sliema and within easy walking distance of the RMYC. Additionally, the Chapter5 Boutique Hotel in Msida is also a great option and just a short walk away.
Malta is quite a small island and there should be no need to hire a car. There is good affordable public transport and a wide range of affordable taxi companies to get people around. Malta drives on the left-hand side of the road, the same as the Cyprus, Ireland and the United Kingdom.
