Information for sailors about the EurILCA Entry system

This page is aimed at describing how the EurILCA Entry System works and what sailors need to do if they would like to attend European Championships. We hope that you can find all the information you are looking for here, but in case of any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the EurILCA Team.

If you are interested in attending a European championship you must first apply for a place through the European Championships section on the top menu. (The only exception is the EurILCA European Masters Championship which is an open event and which can be entered on a first come first served basis.)

To apply for a place is easy: simply go to the European championships page, select the championship you wish to enter and then select "Application Form" from the menu displayed on the left. To complete an application you will need a World Sailing Sailor Id which can be searched for or a new number registered on the World Sailing web site.

Once you have all of the information go to the application form, fill in all the details and submit the form. Your name will then appear on the "Application List".

You will also be sent an email asking to you to verify your email address by clicking on the link in the email. This is to make sure that you will be able to receive emails from EurILCA to the email address you provide in your application form. You will not be able to receive a place offer if your email address has not been verified.

Once the "Application for Entry" period has passed, your national Class Association will rank the sailors from your country according to the qualification and/or ranking system in your country.

You will then receive an email from EurILCA. There are three possible scenarios:

  1. You will receive a place offer: you can select to either accept or decline your place offer. You will have two weeks to complete your entry or decline your place. If you do not react to your place offer, it will be automatically cancelled and the place offered to an alternative sailor.
  2. If more sailors have applied than there are places available, you may receive an email explaining that you have been placed on a waiting list. If a place becomes available later on you will be sent an email explaining how to enter and giving you two weeks to complete entry. Again if you do not react to your place offer the within two weeks, the offer will be cancelled and the place offered to another sailor.
  3. Your application could be declined by your District.
