Wind & Weather Conditions:
- The "Wind", coming from west-southwest, linked to the passage of Atlantic disturbances (warm and wet)
- The "North wind" (La Bise), coming from east-northeast, often linked to high pressures creating "continental" currents from the north. This is usually a dry and strong wind - sometimes violent, and usually lasts for several days
- The "Foehn", coming from the South, is a warm wind which crosses the Alps, triggering a dry spell in the Suisse Romande (French speaking part of Switzerland) while causing heavy rainfalls South of the Alps
- The "Day Breeze", during heat waves, is a light local thermal wind that can be felt on the lakeside. It comes from the middle of the lake and runs perpendicular to the mountains during the day
- The "joran", is a local thermal current - becoming sometimes very violent at the end of the day – that appears usually during heat waves. A Very erratic wind running close to the ground with gusts of wind. It lasts usually from 1h30 to 2h30 (starting around 6 to 7PM) with a force ranging from 3 to 6 on the Beaufort scale.
